It's All Over :(

We’re both sad and excited to share that cria season has officially wrapped up for another year, and what a season it’s been! This summer, 14 adorable crias joined our herd, and they’re already winning hearts. Several times this summer guests were here on a tour when a cria was born, that's always an extra special tour.

Our four first-time moms all did an amazing job, and their motherly instincts kicked in right away. One mom was so protective of her cria that we had to move her and her cria into the pen with the yearlings, now both are happily socializing with the yearlings. We’ll soon be rearranging the pens so all the male crias and their moms will be in one pen and all the female crias will be in another with their moms. This makes it less stressful next year for the males when they are moved to the boys barn as one group.

This year, we welcomed five stunning silver-grey crias, ranging from the nearly white Stellar to Bacall, our dark silver-grey beauty.

In addition to our greys, we also have a wonderful variety of colors: three dark brown males, one light brown male, two rose grey males, a fawn male, a light fawn female, and one brown female. That brings us to 9 males and 5 females for the season! While we adore all our cria, we’ll be offering three of the brown males for sale once they’re older.

Next year is already shaping up to be an exciting one, with 22 confirmed pregnancies and possibly a few more on the way. We’re hoping for an even bigger, and greyer, season ahead!

Right now, we have 71 alpacas on the ranch, and we’d love for you to come meet the newest members of our growing herd. Many of our crias are already greeting visitors, and a few are starting to take treats from hands. Others are still figuring out that humans aren’t so scary and can offer tasty snacks.
